International transfers
Some of our providers store data outside Nigeria, including in the United States and the European Union. When that happens, we rely on the safeguards the Nigeria Data Protection Act allows, such as the provider’s contractual commitments to protect personal data to an adequate standard. You can ask us for details of these safeguards using the contact details above.
Cookies and analytics
Our website uses a small number of cookies. Some are needed for the site to work; others help us understand how the site is used.
- Essential: keep forms working, protect against spam, and remember comment details if you tick the box to save them.
- Analytics: Google Analytics counts visits and shows which pages are useful. It does not tell us who you are.
- Third-party: Calendly and embedded social links may set their own cookies when you use them, under their own policies.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop forms from working.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the reason we collected it.
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Enquiries and strategy-call requests that do not lead to work | 24 months after our last contact |
| Enquiries that become a client relationship | For the length of the contract, then as required by law |
| Newsletter sign-ups | Until you unsubscribe |
| Blog comments | Until the comment is removed, or until you ask us to remove it |
| Server logs | 90 days |
When the period ends, we delete the information or make it anonymous.
Security
We protect your information with an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, password-protected admin access limited to staff who need it, and regular software updates. No website is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach puts your rights at risk, we will tell you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as the law requires.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- see the personal information we hold about you and get a copy
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete it
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to our use of it
- receive it in a common electronic format, or have it sent to another organisation
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter
To use any of these rights, email info@backlineoutsourcing.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We aim to reply within 30 days, and there is no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng).
